Ugh. Double and triple and quadruple UGH. I’ve attempted to post this twice, only to find that all of my text has been DELETED TWICE while wordpress published the post.

I received some very exciting news on Wednesday: one of my top choice PhD programs accepted me with full funding! Ensue euphoric, happy-dancing!

Even though I have yet to hear from five programs, this news means a couple of things for me and my SO (and, I suppose, the cat): we REALLY are going to be moving this summer! And, consequently, we need to start planning what stays behind and what comes with us as we move across the country.

I, being an unabashed Bookworm / English Nerd, have chosen to begin with my books. I know I can’t bring all of them with me (and I’ll even be giving some away), but I do want to keep track of which ones are going into storage and which ones are coming with me, for a couple of reasons. One, I don’t want to lose any of my books. Two, and probably more importantly, I want to know what books I own so that I don’t have to waste time and money finding and buying duplicates if I happen to need them for coursework. Three, and finally, I’ve just always wanted to create a catalog of my personal library and this seemed like the perfect reason to do so.

And, now that I’ve written this post three times, I’m going to forego whatever sentiments I ended with the last two times and just say: Books! PhD! YES!
